Q: What are the best ways to make money at home?
A: The internet.
In a recent post, we’ve covered 6 of your best options for starting an online business. You can explore these options here.
For many reasons, we feel that starting an online business is the best route to take for anyone interested in earning revenue month after month from home.
Some people are intimidated by the word business. Others feel they wouldn’t have the time. And some have no clue what type of business they would start.
This is perfectly fine – and normal.
But this is the exact reason why online business courses exist.
You can get help finding an idea for your business, to building your website, to attracting interested buyers to that website.
Not convinced that starting an online business is for you? That’s OK!
There are still many other ways that one can earn while at home.
7 Best Ways To Make Money At Home
Interested in pet sitting for strangers, becoming a mystery shopper, or some type of data entry work?
Good. Neither are we.
We also have no interest in telling you that “survey taking” is the best way to go.
While there is nothing wrong with pet sitting or taking surveys online to earn some extra cash, I find that most people never really take action on this type of advice.
And this same ol’ same advice is given everywhere.
We’re not just going to tell you the best ways to make money at home and leave you scratching your head confused on what to do next.
We are going to show you where and how to get started today.
Without question, blogging has been the most popular way to make money at home and online throughout the years.
Blogging is by no means a quick way to earn money at home using the internet. In fact, none of the items on this list are.
But I can assure you that it’s very doable and a legitimate way to make money. I can tell you this with confidence because blogging is something that I do.
With patience, persistence, and discipline one can experience success with blogging.
The idea here is to update your blog regularly with original, quality content which over time will help you to grow an audience, or regular website visitors.
It is at this point which you can begin considering ways to monetize your blog.
Earn While Blogging
- Advertising. With sites like Google Adsense and Media.net, you can place ads for revenue within your website. Just realize that earning decent money from ads alone will take a considerable amount of traffic. (1000’s of visitors per day).
- Affiliate Marketing. (See below).
- Build a list. The best way to keep in contact with your website’s visitors is by building an email list. The best way to get somebody to join your email list is to offer them something of value in exchange for their email. (Example: Our free course to starting a business online).
- Create your own product. (See Sell Online Courses just below).
As a freelancer you are self-employed and you can make a living by offering your services.
For example, if you’re a writer you can become a freelance writer. If you’re an SEO wiz, you can offer your SEO knowledge as well to make money online.
When it comes to freelancing, your best bet is to offer services in areas you are experienced in. From there you will want to connect or promote your services to potential clients.
#3 Design Websites
With more and more bloggers and businesses being ‘introduced’ to the online world, I think it’s safe to say web design will be in demand for decades to come.
Most successful web designers obviously as freelancers and after establishing themselves.
#4 Build An App
Creating an app I believe is far more technical yet a solid way to make money online from home.
Building an app will normally require a significant investment of money and time up front.
If you don’t have the skills to, then you will more than likely need to hire someone to help with the app development process.
However, first, you will need to come up with an app idea that will sell.
#5 Sell Your Craftsmanship
Another way to make money from at home is by selling your arts and crafts.
From unique candles to “underground” family board games, to homemade dog collars. I’ve seen it all being sold online.
Here are a few places you can begin selling your handiwork:
Amazon, the largest commerce site we all know and love, is a great place to get your items for sale listed. You can do this through the third-party seller system.
Another place you could also consider selling on is Etsy. Etsy is a socialized online marketplace for selling homemade items.
Also, you can sell new, refurbished as well as used items on eBay; imported electronics without a warranty are also allowed to be sold.
Just create an account with eBay and you are good to sell your product after uploading the pictures and details about it along with the price.
#6 Sell Online Courses
This really ties into the business side of things when considering ways to make money online.
One benefit of having an online business which sells courses is that you could set yourself up for recurring income.
Sure, putting together something like a video course will take a lot of time and work up front, but a single course is something you could continue earning from for years to come.
An example of an online course:
With an online course, we’ll use a video course for this instance, you could teach a range of things: help people learn a language, fitness or cooking lessons, lessons on tennis or become a better shot in basketball, lessons on making money, etc.
The goal of an online course should be to help people by addressing a problem and providing a solution.
We’ll use the cooking example from above.
You may be a great cook and friends and family really enjoy it when you cook. It’s something that comes easily to you.
On the other hand, how many people out there do you think struggle preparing even the simplest meals?
How many people do you think simply don’t have the time to cook dinner each night so resort to fast food?
So you put together a course showing people how to save time shopping and cooking healthy meals.
To help save time shopping, you could offer a quick shopping list within your course which people can download before going to the store.
You can offer tips on how to save time while preparing these healthy meals as well.
Do you think this is something people who struggle with cooking would be interested in? Of course.
#7 Affiliate Marketing
I work full-time from home and affiliate marketing is now how I make most of my income.
As an affiliate, all you are doing is recommending someone else’s product.
If someone clicks your ‘special’ affiliate link and decides to make a purchase, you get paid.
At which point, your work is done.
Anything that is related to customer support is handled by the product owner.
There’s a bit more involved when it comes to setting up your website, but this is the basics of how it works.
Read my experiences as an affiliate and see why I recommend this business model for beginners.
